Hello,
Im a real ssb dxing / antenna enthusiast.
And without a doubt the hand-held has got some issues.
The audio is terrible, especially on low battery.
Drifting issues from my perspective are not that bad...i can live with it.
The standard antenna...well it is a wonder the signal actually gets out.
And it will scare the "s*t" out of you when your swling to a s0 signal and suddenly your local friend with S9 puts a signal in the air.
But I still often carry it along out hiking or when im out on my sea-kayak and then when you hear "marianen island" or other "special DX" or you have made that qso a crossed the pond...
This summer, I went with my sea-kayak towards Schiermonnikoog island.
Out of the kayak, searched for a big hill, logged myself into cluster.dk ...said on which freq I was..
Got a few ops in the log. And could send them a picture with the cellphone at the same time.
And the qso's you do make, and you tell them "im on a hand held", its amazing the replies you will receive.
All of that is fun ! (ps the pic is showing the two lighthouses on the island)
Its about the expectations you have, if you see it as a "full" radio..you will be disappointed.
If you buy it as toy to have..its loads of fun.
Kind regards,
Henry
ehm....
standaard antenne....waardeloos...maar met wat draad en een vishengel kun je hele leuke dingen doen !
